Xiaomi Mi 6 Mercury Silver Edition Will Go on Sale From 3rd, August
Xiaomi on Yesterday announced the Mi 5X smartphone and the MIUI 9 ROM at launch event held on china. Lei Jun, the Xiaomi CEO also disclosed that Xiaomi will release the Silver variant of the Mi 6 smartphone soon at launch event.
Now, according to a post on a Xiaomi forum, the Mi 6 Mercury Silver edition will soon be available on sale in China. However only 100 units of the Mi 6 will be made available for now and the sale will begin on 3rd, August. The prime reason for the limited availability is the low production. Lei Jun has stated that Mi 6 Silver edition production is as low as 6%.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 Mercury Silver edition is the same as other Mi 6 variants but made of stainless steel and it has own glass covering that gives a special ultra reflective mirror like finish. The Silver edition offers a different look and feel on hand. The Silver edition body is electroplated.
The Mi 6 was first launched in April and Silver variant was also launched along with the Black, Blue and White color variants but did not make into the market as there were issues related to its production.
Xiaomi Mi 6 Silver edition comes with 6GB RAM with two storage option 64GB and 128GB , and there is no option to expand memory further. The 128GB variant is priced at 3999 yuan (approx. $594 USD).
The highlight of the Xiaomi Mi 6 is it comes with dual rear camera 12MP + 12MP along with 8MP front camera. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The chipset is said to offer higher performance and a better battery life. It packs a 5.15-inch 1080p display with 2.5D Curved Glass Screen. The Mi 6 features a home button on the front panel that doubles up as a fingerprint sensor as well.
Mi 6 is powered by 3,350 mAh non removable battery and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS based on MIUI 8.
