After numerous rumors and leaks, now LG has officially confirmed that its next flagship V30 smartphone will come with a 6-inch (1440 × 2880 pixels resolution) QHD+ P-OLED aka plastic OLED FullVision display.

The next flagship smartphone from LG will be the first device to feature a plastic OLED FullVision display. The OLED displays in smartphones are ideal for VR applications, one of the key growth areas in the smartphone industry.

With consumers seeking bigger displays but eschewing larger smartphones that are uncomfortable to hold in one hand, LG’s FullVision display is a key contributor in the trend toward minimized bezels in smartphones. OLED was simply the next evolution for FullVision displays, delivering incredible quality, vividness and clarity to smartphone visuals. At LG V30 will have 6 inches display, will be smaller than last year’s LG V20, the upper and lower bezels have been reduced by 20 and 50% when compared to the V20, the LG logo has been moved from the bottom of the display to the back of the phone to maximize viewable screen space.

The OLED display will deliver 148% of the sRGB color space for digital images and 109% of the DCI-P3 2 color space for digital cinema, also offering faster operational response time compared to LCD display. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 that incorporates shatter-resistant technology.

Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said, “Expertise in OLED has long been a core competency of LG, and the technology has always been seen as a potential value-add for smartphones. With competition in the global smartphone space fiercer now than ever, we felt that this was the right time to reintroduce OLED displays in our mobile products.”

According to previous leaks the LG V30 will have an improved audio experience, military standard protection, IP68 water resistance, and better cooling management. The V30 has been tipped to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and will be available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage capacities.

The LG V30 is expected to be announced on 31st, August and pre-orders in US set to begin on 17th, September.
