Android O Will Be Last Update for OnePlus 3 and 3T

OnePlus 3 and 3T Will only receive Android O in its life cycle and wont get any further Android OS update. However Both will still get security updates in future.

Finally the speculation of the software updates for the OnePlus 3 and 3T is come to an end. A senior firm’s executive confirmed in a Q&A session on Friday that Android O will be the last Android OS update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. Now both the devices will receive the upcoming Android O update and will not get any update after Android O, although smartphones will be continued to get security updates.

OnePlus’ head of product Oliver Z said that OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users will see Android O as the last big software update on their devices, and the open beta program will be moving to the fresh OnePlus 5 after the Android O update is rolled out to the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

Oliver also says the OxygenOS version 4.5 update coming to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T devices. During the Q&A, OnePlus also said that they are planing to release the August security patches update to the both OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T within next 2 months. A month or two after these patches go on update, the company will release Oxygen OS 4.5 to both the smartphones. However, the features seen on the OnePlus 5 like Reading Mode, CHECK off-screen gestures, DCI-P3 screen calibrations will not be available on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T due to hardware limitations.

OnePlus also said that the recently launched OnePlus 5 will get plenty of new updates very soon.
